"Ministers of the Gospel should be men who aren't too easily affected by praise or criticism." ~ Martin Luther
Don't misunderstand...we are ALL called to be ministers of the Gospel in that Jesus commanded us to share the Gospel and make disciples everywhere we go. I think Luther is referring to pastors and ministry leaders. But I am wondering how sensitive I really am to praise and criticism and whether that impedes my ability to be as effective as possible in witnessing to others.
Anytime my desire to please men exceeds my desire to please God, I have wandered down the wrong path. The level of my sensitivity to what others think of me should be a good indicator as to who I am truly trying to please.
